Beware of Scammers Spoofing Phone Numbers: Protect Yourself from Fraud Calls

At Chambers Bank, your security is our top priority. Unfortunately, scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated, and one of their most deceptive tactics is phone number spoofing. They disguise their caller ID to make it look like they’re calling from our official bank number and claim to be from our fraud department. Their goal? To steal your personal and financial information.

How the Scam Works

Scammers use technology to manipulate caller ID information, making it appear as if they are calling from Chambers Bank. They often claim:

  • There has been suspicious activity on your account.
  • Your card has been compromised.
  • You need to verify transactions immediately.
  • They require personal information to secure your account.

These fraudsters create a sense of urgency, pressuring you to provide sensitive details like your account number, online banking credentials, or one-time passcodes.

How to Protect Yourself

To keep your information safe, always follow these guidelines:

  1. Stay Skeptical – If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from Chambers Bank--even if they give you a name of someone who really works in our fraud department--be cautious, especially if they ask for personal information.

  2. Do Not Share Personal Information – We will never call and ask for your full account number, PIN or password.

  3. Hang Up and Call Back – If a call seems suspicious, hang up and call us at 1-800-603-1226.

  4. Enable Account Alerts – Sign up for transaction alerts so you can monitor your account activity in real time.

  5. Report Suspicious Calls – If you receive a fraudulent call, report it to us so we can take action and protect other customers.

What Chambers Bank Will Never Do

To help you distinguish between a real bank call and a scam, remember that we will NEVER:

  • Ask for your online banking password or PIN over the phone.
  • Ask you for your full account number over the phone.
  • Pressure you into making immediate transactions or sharing sensitive details.

Stay Vigilant & Spread Awareness

Your best defense against scammers is awareness. Share this information with your friends and family to help prevent fraud. If you ever have doubts about a call claiming to be from Chambers Bank, don’t hesitate to verify by calling us directly.
